<image:caption>Benefits of online counselling. It started with the pandemic, but it will continue for as long as my practice exists. From anywhere in Ontario, all of our appointments will take place via an easy-to-use online video format. This means that sessions can occur with more flexibility in your day, and cater to your scheduling needs. It also means that you have access to therapists that may have different training and expertise if you are in a smaller community. Unsure about setting this up? No problem! I would love to assist you to make sure our first session goes smoothly, even if technology is not your thing. Truly, all it takes is a few clicks.</image:caption>

      <image:title>About - A bit about Evan.</image:title>
<image:caption>As a husband and father, I have my own experience of the importance of relationships in my life every single day, and how ADHD can impact them. Like any of us, I have felt the complexity of emotions that can exist within our most intimate circle. Throughout my career I have adopted a stance toward therapy that is centred on relationships and our interpersonal experiences contributing to the healing of personal issues. It was this core belief in the healing nature of relationships that has led me to embrace and train in couple and family therapy, and later to hone my practice to ADHD work with individuals. Along with being a therapist and coach, I also spend my time guiding undergraduate students as a full-time teaching Professor within an honours bachelors degree in mental health and addictions. I’ve had past careers as a school teacher, a therapist working with youth who are experiencing homelessness, a family therapist, as well as a manager of an addictions counselling team. When I’m outdoors you’ll normally see me cycling, camping, canoeing, or at the city parks. When my little ones are old enough I’ll be thrilled to take them on backcountry adventures in Algonquin. My wife and I are engaged in intense negotiations of what age that will be (*updated July 2025: Had a trip booked but the weather did not cooperate!…sigh!")</image:caption>

      <image:title>About - Education and Credentials.</image:title>
<image:caption>I practice clinically under my Master of Social Work (MSW- clinical stream) from the University of Calgary. I also hold a Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Education (BEd), and Doctor of Education in Community Leadership (EdD). During my doctoral training I deepened my understanding and integration of adult education, social work, and leadership to assist me in my university and college teaching within the mental health field. The doctorate also serves my continued pursuit as a scholar-practitioner in the field of mental health. I am able to decipher the current literature, keep abreast of changes in the field, and provide the best service to couples accessing my services.</image:caption>

<image:title>Individual Therapy in Toronto - You may be wondering: How do I find the right ADHD coach or therapist that is a good fit for me?</image:title>
<image:caption>People come to therapy for a variety of different reasons. Feelings of depression, anxiety, substance use concerns, relational issues, ADHD, anger management, life stressors, or even feeling “stuck” in relation to your own health and wanting to seek change. What is important with my approach is that you have a desire for change, and are open to planning with the end in mind (think of it as planning to “fire” me from the moment we first meet!). Short-term, solution oriented therapy means that our goals are reasonable and attainable, and I take responsibility in making sure those goals are clear and organized in our work together. I emphasize a practical approach to therapy with my clients that involves the recognition of a realistic appraisal from you of details such as time, resources, insurance coverage, finances, and what you are willing to commit to this journey. For example, if you know you can only attend 6 sessions, we can wholeheartedly and confidently plan for this! Open communication is not addressed enough in the therapy, which leads to high drop-out rates and a lack of consolidation of the work clients do—the statistics on this are truly heartbreaking. So if you are seeking structure and want to be focused on short term therapeutic gains in your life, we should consider working together!</image:caption>

      <image:title>Individual Therapy in Toronto - Addiction Counselling</image:title>
<image:caption>I have experience in both community services as well as more formal office settings in supporting individuals who want to make changes around their substance use. A short-term, solution focused approach to these concerns can be extremely beneficial. For some, it may look like building a foundation to even begin to consider their own motivation and decision to reduce substance use. For others, it provides a secure base to explore and track successes, manage set-backs, and acknowledge the improvements they make toward their goal. If you are seeking this type of open, compassionate, and structured treatment plan to jump-start, support, and/or explore your substance use, we may be a good fit to work together.</image:caption>
